Concept is the same… Thunder give up on a ton of picks for Mobley… Cavs get big wings and picks.
.
Thunder give up less overall (keep Caruso), create absolutely insane top7 and still have 25M in cap space.
SGA . Dort . JDub . Mobley . Chet … Caruso . Cason
Saw on ESPN today that OKC has 11 picks and 7 swaps in their first round stockpile… giving up half to get Mobley without giving up any players seems like a no-brainer to me if I’m OKC.
.
Cavs go all-in on Spida / Allen … add Mikal as 3rd star and Avdija as a perfect 3&D compliment on an extremely team friendly deal… resign Okoro and add 4 future picks/swaps to have the flexibility for another big move after we see how the new roster looks.
Spida . Mikal . Strus . Avdija . Allen … LeVert . Okoro . Wade
Cavs draft LeVert replacement (Carter, Carrington, Collier) or a backup Center (Filipowski, Ware, Edey, Holmes) or BPA if an upside wing falls (Williams, Salaun, Holland) or another win-now wing (Knect, Shannon) @ #12
.
I agree with everyone Mobley is more or less untouchable, but at a certain point there should be a price for everyone on the Cavs and the Thunder have the means to just completely Godfather offer other teams…
Why I think the Cavs should do this in one sentence: we get better right now and we add a handful of picks to create maximum flexibility (max flex is very necessary to give up Mobley’s upside).
Longer: The Spida + Allen + shooters brand of basketball with Mikal and Avdija makes us a better team right now… if Spida or Allen get hurt, obviously we would greatly miss DG or Mobley, but I just don’t think you should plan for injuries. The ceiling of the healthy squad should be most important. Strus LeVert Okoro Wade give us a legit 8 deep playoff rotation to compete with anyone right away… adding 3 picks and a swap to more or less replace our outgoing picks to Utah gives us a full set of picks to make another move.
