A weird hunch….

FAILED

For some reason I don’t know why but I’m starting to believe Ayton may be traded at the deadline if the Suns honestly feel like he’s not a max contract player. I dont understand why the suns don’t feel he worth that type of a contract unless they feel that they already spent enough on contract extensions with Bridges, Paul, and Shamet. Another theory I heard that there is a rule saying you can’t have more than two max contract rookies extensions on your team Booker is one and Ayton would be two so that would stop them from acquiring a third young max extended player and the thought is the Suns don’t know if Ayton worth the complete max deal in case another young star becomes available. I personal do think he’s worth it but anyways this leads me to the trade.

Cavs acquire Ayton and why would they trade for another big? Because Ayton is a true nba star and proved it when the Suns played the Cavs and dominated both Allen and Mobley. Since the Cavs are already playing big, they might as well bring in one of the best young big men in the game and improve the big line up. Simply because he’s a star and the Cavs want young talented stars on the team when they can’t get any in free agency.

Why for Suns in this trade- they acquire a young guard in Sexton who I believe they will be able to extend for a cheaper contract than the max. Collin would be a great player to have as a 6th man for the Suns and has proven his ability this year to play more into the system and make plays for others. Also will take some of the pressure of his shoulders and allow him to be a piece of a really good young core and that is also including Windler and his shooting which will fit well with Paul and Booker. Drummond gives the Suns half the value of Ayton and his play but at a small fraction financially. Also they get the Cavs first which will most likely be late lottery this year unless Mobley accelerates his growth and they get the play in.

For the Sixers- Drummond has a few nagging injures and they played great without him so the need isn’t there to keep Drummond. Kaminsky can add spacing while playing big and Okoro simply give them another young defensive wing and possibly long term piece to add to their defensive scheme that’s been working well lately even without Ben. Also they get 2nds in return.

Overall I know this is highly unlikely but I do think Ayton may become available towards the deadline if talks don’t progress with Ayton future contract and don’t be surprised if the Cavs would be interested.
