Sneaky part of this trade is getting Kalbrenner, the 23yr old big who is 7ft shot blocker.
Getting back 2x 2nd Rd Picks & the Big, Cle gives up Nance & 2031 1st w top 5 priterations.
1st glance looks like Cha makes out but if Cle remains a top team, then that pick will be a high 20s pick.. and They get back 2x 2nds and sooner. 27 & 29.
Ofc if Cle falls apart by 2030, then Cha could get a higher pick w protections only 1-5.. in 2031 draft.
The entire reason to get the young big included in this deal is that J Allen is due to get 30mil a year next year & unless Cle goes to Finals, J Allen will be moved next.
His deal goes from 20mil this year to 30mil next year.
Mobley is future 5, and its why kenny has J Allen not closing gms.
That 2nd apron & repeat tax next year, makes 10mil increase be like 100mil w the repeater tax. So J Allen & D Hunter are likely to be moved..
If Cha really want to move on from Melo & Melo says I want a trade...
This move could work out for all parties...
Melo at 6 7 can play better defense & can be a pass 1st Off Engine. I think he plays best when lights are the brightest & he can defend better switches.
I think he takes alot of bad shots in CHA & that I think is something that will improve playing w better layers & not be forced to be that guy.
Getting the big in this deal is key to get that deal on a rookie contract w being a 2nd Apron team.
