Kristaps and Hauser to Pistons, Stewart and Kessler to Celtics

SUCCESS

Celtics: First and foremost, this trade immediately gets the Celtics under the second apron, which is a must for the team. There are basketball reasons for the deal as well. Kristaps had a very very weird year for the C's. At his best, he made the team unbeatable. His rim protection and floor spacing was invaluable, and his ability to play in double big lineups unlocked a ton for Joe. The problem is, he didn't have it every game, and missed a TON of time. So with that, he's probably a goner. With Al potentially retiring and Kornet hitting UFA, the Celtics suddenly have a massive hole at the 5. In exchange for Porzingis and Hauser, that hole gets filled. To put it simply, Stewart and Kessler would fill the roles Horford and Kornet played in game 5 against the Knicks. Stewart is a NASTY switch big, and if his flashes of three point shooting can sustain, he would be a nearly 1 for 1 for Al. Kessler is one of the best rim protectors in the league already, and his rebounding would be much much needed on both ends. Crucially, both players are still quite young with have tons of room for growth. The Celtics might be the best developmental organization of the NBA's past decade (especially shooting development), so this trade could look lopsided in a few years.

Pistons: Cade Cunningham is so, so, so good at basketball. It might be time to start getting serious about the teams ceiling around him. Ausar, Ivey, and Holland all have star potential, and Duren proved he can be a playoff weapon this year. With that being said, the fit between those five will always be wonky, evidenced by how much JB leaned on Tobias, THJ, and Beasley this year. All three are good players, but they can be upgraded. Porzingis and Hauser would be massive, massive upgrades. Kristaps might be the biggest ceiling raiser in the NBA. 3&D bigs are coveted for a reason. He can play in double-big lineups with Duren without sacrificing offense. He can be the sole big without sacrificing defense. His presence alone would unlock so much offensive potential between Cade and Ausar. Hauser could be just as crucial. Bickerstaff rarely would play Cade without one of THJ & Beasley on the court. Their shooting was essential, despite what they gave up on the defensively. Hauser is that same type of shooter, but he is miles better than those guys on the defensive end. Playoff basketball is just as much about your weaknesses as they are about your strengths. To put it simply, Hauser and Porzingis would shore up the Pistons' weaknesses and improve their strengths.

Jazz: Rebuilding team gives up player, takes on contract, gets draft picks and a young guy in exchange. Bingo Bango.
