A TRADE THAT BENEFITS ALL TEAMS:
Rumors say that Celtics are exploring rerouting options for Simons, and in my opinion, teams won't be piling up for him. There is a team though that he would fit perfectly to, and that's the Milwaukee Bucks.
Simons was an apprentice of Dame, some would say he is a copycat of him. With Dame missing the whole season, and KPJ being a FA, Bucks' point guard depth is in jeopardy. That's when Ant Simons would be of perfect use. He would fill out Dame's offensive responsibility until he returns, and could slowly develop as Bucks' future point guard. he had his down year this season, but i think it is due to his environment. Portland isn't a winning team as of now, and putting him on a playoff contending team might make him much better. Bucks only give up Kuzma and a second round pick in this trade, which is very worth it, knowing how Kuz performed in the playoffs.
The Celtics get Cam Johnson in this trade, filling out the weak spot at the four. They also trade Sam Hauser, saving up to 16 million. In this way, they could resign Luke Kornet and Big Al, which are their priority this free agency. Cam could also help fill the offensive load for a while as JT recovers from his injury. And one more good thing, it opens up a starting spot for Payton Pritchard! It also gives minutes for the G-League MVP JD Davison, which I am high on and should be getting the backup minutes.
As for the Nets though, I don't know what the Brooklyn's asking price for CJ is, but for his value and the rumors that teams are not that high on Cam, this is a good return. They get their tank commander Kuzma and a good shooter that had a down year in Hauser. Alongside them they get 3 second rounders which are helpful for their rebuild. They will obviously tank next season in hopes to get a high pick and this trade helps them while not losing much.
