Gafford to Celtics, Simons to Nets

SUCCESS

Mavericks: Assuming the new Dallas front office is intent on reshaping the roster around Flagg, financial flexibility, youth, and fit will be the priority going forward. Anfernee Simons is a young talented ball-handler who can shoot the leather off the ball and is on an expiring contract. He won't command the 27m he makes this year annually, so if Dallas can reup him on a deal that averages $20m or less annually, he would be a true value add. Losing Gafford stings, but in theory Derrick Lively is their center of the future. Besides, getting off Klay's money without spending draft picks is a massive win.

Celtics: This gap year for the Celtics has proven how important their frontcourt was to their success these past few years. Getting Tatum back will help and Queta is good, but the lack of rebounding and rim protection on this roster is staggering. Daniel Gafford is a very good center on a cost-efficient deal, and would provide everything they're lacking at the moment. Simons has been solid for the C's, but he is expendable and getting off his money ducks Boston out of the tax. Improving their guard depth would become a priority, but that is trivial in comparison to their current issues with their frontcourt and payroll.

Nets: Bad contract for first round pick.
