Jrue to the Mavs, Washington to the Kings

SUCCESS

Celtics: With JT hurt for the majority of next year, Boston has two priorities this summer. The first is to get under the second apron without sacrificing too much talent. Losing Jrue is tough, but he is old an expensive, so he's probably getting moved. This deal saves the team ~ $15 million and still nets them two rotation guys and a prospect. Keon Ellis in particular would be an awesome fit as a defense first guard who can make an offensive impact in a lower usage role. The second priority is to get your big men (plural) of the future. Ideally, the next iteration of the Celtics has two centers that can give the team different defensive looks. One should be a rim protector and rebounder who can play in drop or sag off non-shooters to clog the paint. Gafford is really good at those things, while also being a strong offensive rim runner.

Mavericks: With Dallas landing the #1 overall pick in the lottery (lmao), they can get away with a consolidating trade. Flagg, AD, and Lively are the front court of the future and will close games going forward. The thing is, Flagg and AD should also spend some of their minutes playing the 4 & 5 respectively. That doesn't leave a ton of room in the rotation for PJ and Gafford, both of whom are expiring and have serious value around the league. Packaging them for Jrue Holiday and three seconds could move the needle in a serious way. Jrue can fill in for Kyrie at the 1 and slide next to him at the 2 when he gets healthy. Defensively, he would immediately become the teams best guard defender. If the window is the next three years like Nico keeps saying, Jrue should maintain value for these next three years. Getting three seconds as insurance is a nice cherry on top.

Kings: Nobody is sure what exactly Sacramento is doing this summer, but getting PJ Washington for this value makes sense regardless. Yes, Keon Ellis has been awesome for the Kings. The thing is, PJ Washington is a better player and not much older. He's an awesome defender, provides Sacramento with some much needed length, and simply has more juice offensively. For the price of three seconds, it's a no brainer upgrade.
