The Grizzlies need depth, shooting and veteran leadership it’s as simple as that. They make this move to add all three. Rudy Gay played there knows what it’s like and hopefully those other two guys can help being vets. The Grizzlies are only trading one player really in their rotation rotation and that’s Lariva but, the Grizzlies have so many bigs, Roddy, Adams, Clarke, JJJ, they’d be getting another in this trade in Muscala. They shouldn’t mind parting with him. The rest of the trade is filler.

The Celtics made the deal for Muscala for this year to add some depth to our big position but with Galinari coming back next season he’s expendable. They would still have a big under contract next season in Tillman who is younger if all doesn’t go well. They also get a second rounder back from this trade.

The Spurs do this trade simply because they don’t need Mcdermont. In this trade they get two young pieces that they can get a look at.

The Jazz really have no use for Gay, he’s 36 and not apart of their future. This way they can get some value for him, with a second round pick and two fringe NBA players who will have a chance to get some run,
