First of all, I'm going to do an analysis of this year's Los Angeles Clippers draft.
Well for starters and in case anyone didn't know the LA Clippers had the #46 pick in this draft, on the first day of the draft (first round) there were rumors that maybe the LA Clippers would try to move up in the draft and get a pick in the first round, however this didn't happen in the end.
Going into the second day and taking into account the rumors that they would try to move up in the draft and with the names that were available to select at the beginning of this round, I thought that the Clippers would move up, however this did not happen so in the end the Clippers ended up selecting Cam Christie (younger brother of Max Christie) with their pick #46. Cam has had a good first year in college and at only 19 years old has averaged 11.3 3.6 2.2 and a promising 39.1% in three pointers, and the Clippers also acquired 19 year old Trentyn Flowers in a two-way deal. Trentyn, who has played in the NBL and has flashed quite a bit in limited time.
With all this in mind, what's my opinion? I think it was a good draft and that the Clippers selected two promising young players that may be able to contribute at the NBA level in a few years, so I'm glad we selected young players that may be able to contribute in the future instead of older players that won't play 10 minutes in the regular season.
Now let's move on to the important stuff, what has Lawrance Frank said about PG's situation?
Basically and I quote, "We have had ongoing conversations with Paul and Aaron Mintz, his agent. We want Paul. We want to retain Paul. But we also understand and respect the fact that this is a business. Players have a limited amount of time not only to make as much money as possible, but also to do what they want to do. We hope Paul decides to stay here.
As far as I am concerned these comments incline me to think that under no circumstances will they offer him the max contract he is looking for, so what is my reaction? Desperation, I think PG is a very good player and seeing what other players are charging in the league I do not think it is crazy what he is asking for but I also understand that if Kawhi has accepted less the franchise does not want to offer the max to PG. We just have to hope that PG asks for the trade and we are able to take some young player fillers and the picks we can get for PG.
