(Posted in general but curious how Clippers fans feel about trading Kawhi or PG this year) Clippers:
They accept that this roster is likely not winning anything and need to try and salvage value
Waiting until next year to trade PG when he is in a contract year loses leverage/appeal for the other team and also increases the chance he could get hurt again/start to regress
The picks may be strong, with the 2026 and 2028 FRPs coming when Steph is 38 or older
Clippers have no picks for the future and Ballmer needs to fill seats in his new building long term. Too risky to have little ability to get strong young talent between 2025-2030.
Warriors:
Golden State gets a top 20-25 player to pair with Steph in what could be the last year they can meaningfully compete for a while
Improvement on defence and another player that can create their own shot in late game situations.
How bad would the Clippers have to be by the deadline to consider a trade like this? .500? 5 games under?
Clippers can do better? Too risky for the Warriors? Curious what everyone thinks.
