Based off a 1999 NBA season preview article from ESPN:
A is for Antetokounmpo, could Giannis miss the playoffs for the first time in a decade?
B is for Boston. With Jayson Tatum returning, Boston looks primed to come out of the East
C is for Charlotte, who holds the longest current playoff drought, having been absent since 2016. Behind Kon Knueppel, LaMelo Ball & Brandon Miller, this could be their best shot
D is for Duren. With Cade out, the Pistons will rely on their other All-Star to carry them far
E is for East, the by far weaker conference. Minnesota, led by Edwards, is yearning to be moved over
F is for Fox, as in the Swipa from SA. A championship would add a huge amount to the former King’s legacy
G is for Golden State. The Dubs may lose out on a playoff spot, as the end of the Curry era nears
H is for Heat, as the Heat have been fighting to stay in the play-in led by Norman Powell
I is for Indiana, who after nearly reaching the peak last year, will be on the outside looking in
J is for JJ Redick. Quite a splendid job the former NBA guard has done as HC of the Lakers
K is for Kenny Atkinson. The recent James Harden acquisition has allowed Kenny to solidify the Cavs as contenders
L is for Leonard. Kawhi has had one heck of a year, but still may come up just short. Anyone remember that Aspiration scandal?
M is for Money, something that NBA players have been paying on a consistent basis night in and night out for the ever increasing suspensions & fines.
N is for New York, is it time for the Knicks to finally bring it home?
O is for Orlando, a disappointing team (unlike another O squad) who went all in on Desmond Bane this summer
P is for Paul George. Philadelphia’s wing is set to return next week after being suspended in January. #FreePG13
Q is for Quin Snyder, coach of the Atlanta Red Hots… sorry I mean the Hawks despite a 9-1 record in their last 10.
R is for Raptors, a surprising team this year nonetheless led by Magnum BI & Scottie the Hottie.
S is for SGA, the reigning and soon to be back to back MVP for OKC
T is for Tiago Splitter, the leader of a complicated Blazers team known for the Chauncey Billups scandal
U is for Udoka, the head of a self imploding mission in Houston, which yes, we do have a problem
V is for Valanciunas, the backup to the runner up for MVP this year, Denver’s Nikola Jokic
W is for Wembanyama. Who is this by the way?
X is for X’s and O’s, something the Phoenix Suns have been surprisingly eXceptional at this year as a playoff candidate
Y is for Yabusele, the starting center for the play in classic Chicago Bulls
Z is for Zubac, the other massive trade the Clippers made at the deadline to weaken their roster
