I just feeling the itch to rant about random stuff (NBA related ofc) so I have gathered a bunch of hot takes and opinions to rant about this entire post.
1. Your GOAT is only who you grew up watching
So I was born during the miami days of lebron james and he’s my GOAT the greatest to ever live right there. I could rant about it later on so I guess… anyways. To a kid, a superstar athlete like LeBron or MJ isn’t just a guy playing a game but a real life superhero. That is why LeBron the GOAT. Children don't watch games to analyze salary caps, fg% percentages, or media narratives. They just watch in pure awe, making the bond much deeper than any bond that be made as an adult. Also you learn rules from what era you were born in. Example if you were born in the 2010s you learn’t about spacing and 3point shooting but in an era like the 90s, the physical toughness could look boring.
2. The 1995 Rockets are one of the greatest champions of all time
Just hear me out. At the end of the regular season they were the 6th seed with barely any odds to even make it out the first round. They did not have homecourt advantage at all during the post-season. They had to play clutch game 5s and game 7s in hostile territory to win them all. You want to hear who they beat? WITHOUT HOMECOURT?
They beat Karl Malone and John Stockton's 60-win Jazz
They beat Charles Barkley’s 59-win Phoenix Suns (from a 3-1 deficit)
They humiliated MVP David Robinson 62-win Spurs
They swept Shaq and Penny Hardaway's 57-win Orlando Magic in the Finals.
The absolute dumbest argument is "Jordan was gone, so it doesn't count." So does that mean the 2016 Cavs don’t count because they didn’t have Draymond green?
3. The Rockets this season aren’t a top 6 seed (play-in at best)
Yet LeBron, Kawhi, Giannis, Brown, Tatum, Hali, Maxey, DMitch, Cade, and a bunch more is in the east, the Rockets are nowhere near clutching the 6th seed. They are a play in team at best. They have a 38 year old KEVIN DURANT AS THE OFFENCE. 38 YEARS OLD. Relying on an ancient durant as the obvious 1st option is horrible. Not to mention they have VanVleet, Thompson, Reed, and Smart all in the guard positions. Other than maybe Reed & VanVleet nobody can shoot to save peanuts. Sengun isn’t a #1 option on offence, and needing to guard amazing centers like Wemby and Jokic, they might average 50 against the rockets because of the horrible sengun defence. Look what happened last year against a lakers team without Luka or Reaves.
