How to Fix Fixture Congestion and amount of injuries in the NBA

In recent years we have seen a rise in season ending injuries near the end of the season. And this season has been the worst ever. With 3 stars for their respective teams tearing their Achillies in a gruesome way during the Playoffs. And looking into it more, we can see that both Tatum and Dame were 2 of the top 11 players in Minutes per game in the regular season. While Haliburton was lower, he played a bunch in Indianas elite run. Because of this, us here at the Totem Group have came up with 3 possible solutions for fixture congestion and limit injuries in the league.

  1. Limit the amount of minutes played in a game. This is our least favourite option of the 3. It'll he limited to 36 minutes per game for players. This'll definitely lower the amount of injuries in the league, but it'll definitely ruin the ratings as stars won't be playing as much. It'll leave a bunch of stars on the bench more.

  2. Lower the amount of games per season. This still isn't the best though. The amount of games could be lowered to 70 games maybe, meaning shorter seasons and less change of injury. Problems with this though is No 1. Revenue. Less games = less tickets to be sold. But they could inflate prices on other games, but that wouldn't be too good. And No 2. The off-season will be much longer then normal. And already the off-season is boring enough with not many trades. But extending it, will make it even more boring. But there's still a much obvious answer.

No 3. Just extend the season by 1 to 2 weeks. Keep the 82 games, but just extend the season. More gaps in between games so more time for recovery and to make sure they don't get injured. It also will help with fixing the length of the off-season. Having more action in what would be the off-season. Push the Summer League foward aswell. So the fans will have more competitive basketball over the year instead of it just in a 9 month period.

Hope you enjoyed this article. It's our 1st article in a long time aswell. And the 1st time as a group. Appreciate all of your support.
