It is clear that the promising young Spanish player has not been excellent the 2 seasons he has been playing in the league, although he is still very young and can develop.

Now let's analyze why Garuba is interesting for some teams in the league and what are his skills.

The Spanish power forward/center has shown to have a good defensive ability although he has a great lack of scoring ability but he certainly has a good potential.

Let's take a look at his stats per game last season: 3.0 pts, 4.1 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 0.4 blocks in an average of 13 minutes.

Clearly these stats are not good so if Garuba finds a team in the NBA, unless he makes a big jump in quality, he won't play many minutes.

Which teams could be the most interested in acquiring Garuba's services?

1. Golden State Warriors

The Warriors currently do not have a third center on the team so the Spanish center could be the additional signing they need to fill out the roster in which Garuba could play a significant amount of minutes and thus take minutes away from the already veteran Green and Looney.

2. New Orleans Pelicans

In other circumstances this would be very different, but with Trey Murphy's recent injury that will keep him sidelined for at least 3 months Larry Nance Jr. will likely return to the power forward rotation and considering the Pelicans would only have Cody Zeller who is a veteran as well as injury prone and Jonas Valanciunas who is also injury prone I don't see why Garuba wouldn't fit into probably both PF and C rotations thus accumulating quite a few minutes.

3. Dallas Mavericks

In Dallas they need a lot of big and defensive players like Garuba and also taking into account the situation of the centers in Dallas, with the disappointment of Powell added to the lack of continuity and decline of Holmes if the center gave a step forward he could play a lot of minutes.

4. Los Angeles Clippers

This signing is quite feasible since the Los Angeles team only has Plumlee and Zubac as main pivots and while it is true that they could hog a lot of minutes the Spaniard could get to play a reasonable amount of minutes.

In conclusion the reality of Garuba is that he has been a disappointing player for the moment and surely if any team signs him it will be on a two-way contract and he will play few minutes so if he wants to stay in the league he will have to prove that he deserves it.
