Bulls are in a tough tough spot. They're currently 9th seed out east and no real chance at making the playoffs. Many of their wins came from the time where Lavine is out and Coby White leading the team.
Many of their biggest contracts have absolutely no market, no one needs Lavine or DeMar as teams acquire their star players alrdy, and Vuc, well lets just say no one want to commit to an older C with not much defending and has clearly fell off a bit alrdy
Coby White has been their bright spot this year. So many games that he went off and is averaging career high numbers. Pat Will also is hving a gd season, although nth close to a star, he has been a solid role player, shooting 40% from 3
Ironically, guys who hv the most interest from other teams are nowhere close to their ‘star’ players. Alex Caruso, great great 3&D PG, Andre Drummond, great rebounder, and Torrey Craig, decent wing on minimum, are the 3 who probably is the hottest around trade talk.
What I would do if im the Bulls GM?
I dont think one of DeMar, Vuc and Lavine can be moved this season. Same goes with Lonzo. They will still be on their roster next season
Except Demar, who’s a UFA this offseason. If im the Bulls, I dont think I will be willing to offer him a multi year big extension. I think they’re better off just keeping one of DeMar or Lavine, and Lavine probably dont hv any market any time zoon, so Demar will be the one that im not lookin to extend, at least not on multi year contract, and with big money
For this deadline, all 3 of Caruso, Drum and Craig will be guys thag I look to move. They’re all expiring and require extension. I think them moving forward with those guys and get the picks will be the smartest choice
There’s reports that teams offered frp for Caruso, if im Bulls, do the deal all day. A frp in return will be great great value. Drum and Craig will be targetted by many many contenders, who only hv minimum guys to move. The amount of teams interested in Drum and Craig will be much, and Bulls definitely should make this sort of a biding war, to send both of them to new teams that paid the most. Should be only srps in return, but the amount can be much, which helps this Bulls team’s future
The 2025 pick is on the hands of Spurs, top 10 protected. For a better future I think Bulls should try to keep that pick next year, cus 2025 should be a gd draft. Move on from the vets, take any offers came in for Lavine and Vuc, not resigning Demar and fully let Coby White, Pat Will, and all the other young guys to lead the team, will be the ideal move for Chicago to me
