With all the hype on Travis Scott’s UTOPIA, nobody seemed to care that Post dropped. I’ve recently started listening to Post Malone, and I enjoy most of his music. So i listened to the album expecting a few bangers and it being another album from him , but I was so wrong. This is truly a pop record. But, it’s still actually good. Enough talking, here are the rankings:
16- Enough is Enough
15- Texas Tea
14- Something Real
13- Sign Me Up
12- Too Cool to Die
11- Hold My Breath
10- Socialite
9- Landmine
8- Green Thumb
7- Buyer Beware
6- Overdrive
5- Don’t Understand : Yes, this album starts off with a somber song. While you get stripped-down production and melodies that are as timeless as it gets in this song, I believe it’s Post’s deep lyrics and soft, emotional vocals that will strike a chord with you. Like every time he asks us why we like him because he doesn’t like himself, I imagine someone trying to put a teardrop back in their eye
4- Novocandy: Contrary to popular belief, Post said he has never taken hard d***s. With that being said, the glee and free spirit that he sings with in this song is brought to you by his inner happiness, and some beer. Whatever the case may be, I think it’s very easy to get lost in this songs upbeat, comforting production and Post Malones unrestrained vocals and cheery lyrics.
3- tie between Laugh it Off and Speedometer : The writing we get in both of these songs is amazing; the songs do something completely different though. The former is on some hazy, uptempo, romantic, and electro-pop vibes, while the latter is on some gentle, touching, vulnerable stuff. Both songs give off old-school vibes and should be streamed immediately.
2- Chemical : I prefer Pop Post Malone over rap Post Malone. To me, the former sounds purer. With that being said, Post Malone sounds so white in this song I wouldn’t be surprised if he made it while hiking ( direct quote from a black friend of mine). In this song, he allows his free spirit to take over ; as a result, you get his signature cracked voice and lyrical content that revolves around the power of d***s. All in all, this song is the definition of a hit.
1- Mourning : Post Malone keeps it a stack in this song. Over production that boasts some hard-hitting 808s, hazy vibes, and soothing guitar licks, Post passionately sings about his struggles with alcohol and how important it is to have the right people around you. While I feel bad calling this depressing track a bop, at the end of the day, it has a catchy hook and a dope beat.
