Last week I released my Tre Johnson and VJ Edgecombe scouting reports, my take is I value them both as similar prospects with similar builds but entirely different styles. But I said that Tre Johnson is my better prospect. For the last few games, VJ Edgecombe has been on a tear, his shot has been falling finally and is looking like a top 5 pick, my problem is I think there's 5 better prospects
Coming in to today, Tre Johnson was coming off an up and down stretch of games and had to play Texas A&M the 13th ranked team and obviously a huge rival of Texas.
The score at Halftime? 43-25 Texas A&M
The score at Fulltime? 70-69 Texas
Tre Johnson had 24 points in the second half, ended with the stat line
30 points
4 assists
2 blocks
1 steal
8/18 from field
4/10 from three
10/10 free throws
Tell me im wrong about this guy, he is going to be great in the NBA, he has a high ceiling for me, the three point creation and consistency reminds me of Herro, Powell.
One of the best things I saw in this game, he was just more aggressive than usual, he got to the rim and although he wasn't efficient but he got 10 free throws and made em and that what counts. The aggressiveness was a real complaint of mine for him, I'd love him to shoot a higher % at the rim, but all I need right now is to see the aggressiveness in that end.
He also showed a real clutch gene, making his last two threes in a real tough situation down last. It was a really fun game to watch and I really believe he's a top 5 guy right now coming into this 2025 NBA Draft.
Now to be fair to VJ Edgecombe, his Baylor team also won where he had a statline of
21 points
6 rebounds
3 assists
2 steals
2 blocks
8/18 from field (same fg%)
4/10 from three
1/2 from the free throw line
Quite a similar stat line, but I much enjoyed the Tre Johnson performance and my take still stands on them.
Please check out my VJ and Tre scouting reports if you haven't seen them, I'll link em in the comments. We getting at least one tommorrow, depends on how much work I need to get done for school.
