Ok so I’ve heard many things about the days off Fanspo before I was here and I’ve seen a lot of fun ideas. I’ve decided to combine those in a way and I’m thinking about putting it together for a fun new series. It’ll require voting from all of you, and a select few of you who are interested in competing will be given the chance to.
Ok, first of all, just where I got ideas/inspiration from. About a month ago, I saw Kyrie and ShlenkSystem talking about a FanSpo all-Star event. I thought it was interesting but didn’t think much of it. But then, ASAPCohen came back and started a poll series for the best creator on FanSpo. I’m sure you’ve all seen this series by now, maybe even voted for/nominated someone.
As the standings go now, AG_Atto was 1, ShooterMcGrady at 2, and ChrisGon rounding out the top 3. These people would be competitors or the “players” in my all star series. Assuming ASAP keeps his series going, I’ll keep track of the results and make a list of all stars. If a person who is selected isn’t active anymore, he’ll be replaced by a replacement just like an injured player in the all-Star game would be. If you don’t want to be in my All-Star event, that’s fine just give me a heads up. Ok now let me tell you how many people will compete.
Just like in the actual NBA, 28 players will compete. 2 of these players will be “captains”. Assuming their interested, our captions will be Atto and Shooter. If their not, ChrisGon can take their spot or we can keep going down the line. The 3-10 creators will be the All-Star “starters”. Captains will take turns selecting through these 8 creators to assemble their “starting lineup”. Next, creators 11-28 will be the bench players, or reserves. THEY WILL PLAY AN EQUALLY IMPORTANT ROLE AS THE STARTERS. Once again, captains will go down the list drafting their team. Now we have 2 teams.
So how are going to do points? I’m not a billionaire and half of you guys are teenagers. I can’t just fly you guys all down here to play a basketball game. So instead, we’ll have a competition of basketball knowledge. There will be 3 events, and a final game. The events are the Skill Challenge, the 3 Point Contest, and the Slam Dunk Contest. EACH PLAYER CAN ONLY COMPETE IN 1 EVENT. The final game will be the All-Star Game. ALL PLAYERS COMPETE IN THE GAME.
Skill Challenge - Fans (all FanSpo users) will vote on 3 players from each team to compete in the Skills Challenge. The players nominated will have questions about 3 different trade categories which will be revealed on a later date. For each category, each player on both teams will submit 1 trade. NO TWO COMPETITORS CAN HAVE THE SAME TRADE. The players will only receive 12 hour to respond with all three trades, so try to be active. I’ll be informing the players a day or 2 beforehand about when the categories will be posted and they can submit their trades. The team with the overall best trade of each category gets 1 point. At the end of the Skills Challenge, whichever team has the most points will receive an ADDITIONAL 5 points towards their team score and they will be crowned winners of the Skills Challenge.
3 Point Contest - Once again, fans will vote for 4 players from each team to compete. Then, each player will receive 10 trade prompts. They’ll be given 1 day to pick 1 prompt and submit a trade for that. They can do as many prompts as they want to but only their best submission will be taken. The top 4 trades will each get 2 points for their team and we’ll go to a final between the 4 with 5 prompts. The winner will receive an additional 5 points for their team and wins the 3 Point contest.
Dunk Contest - For a third time, fans will vote for 2 players from each side. If you do the math, this means only 18 out of 28 players will compete in the events. The other 10 will get a chance to compete in the All-Star Game. For the dunk contest, each player will be given 3 attempts to submit a trade. I will judge each trade and give the players a score out of 5. That is how many points their team receives. The player with the best score wins 5 points for their team and wins the Dunk Contest.
All-Star Game - All 28 players get 1 random prompt. The top 10 get 1 point for their team and advance. In the next round, the top 2 go to the finals and receive 5 points each. Then, the player who wins gets a whopping 10 points for their team and is awarded the All-Star MVP Award.
