July 23rd My NBA Power Rankings (with reasoning)

  • Before I start this I am assuming that LeBron James will be a Miami Heat based off the leaked videos and stuff. Other than that, I am not adding any free agents to any teams ranking. It is purely based off how the team looks right now.

  1. San Antonio Spurs - Adding Tobias Harris is a big boost. All their players are young and will continue to get better. They made the finals last year and although they lost, I think they are the team to beat. Drafting Quaintance is a nice step for their defense and drafting Reed will be a great backup incase Wemby get hurts.

  2. New York Knicks - I felt like I should of given them 1 based off them winning the championship but I won't. They lost Robinson and Hukporti which hurts but they got Drummond instead which is pretty much Robinson but a better shooter. De Larrea and Kayil prob won't do too much as rookies. However, they just came off a ring and I have to give them respect for that.

  3. Oklahoma City Thunder - They lost Lu Dort for pretty much nothing. I do not like that trade but the Thunder have been good for a couple years no matter what they do. No real FA moves and the draft was okay. Mara has not looked good but I still like the Stirtz pick. The rookie Otega Oweh could potentially be a Dort replacement but I just don't see anyone filling his role. If they kept Dort, I could of had them 2 possibly.

  4. Philadelphia 76ers - They added Brown and traded PG. A huge upgrade. They got Philon late in the 1st round which was a steal. I believe this team could be the best in the NBA, however health is a huge issue. If Embiid can stay on the court then great but it is unlikely. The Dean Wade fit may be interesting but the bench depth is a bit worrisome.

  5. Detroit Pistons - This Pistons offense scares me a lot. With Harris gone and Duren likely to leave, I just don't see them average more than 100 PPG. Cade is great but having Cade and defense will not work when it comes down to the playoffs. We saw it this year. It will work in the regular season though.

  6. Miami Heat - If they get LeBron, they could be as high as 4. However, Bam, Giannis and LeBron just do not fit well together in my opinion. I just have a feeling it might be another 2021 Nets situation. Also, Davion Mitchell as the PG is not great. They also have NO SHOOTING besides Tim Hardaway Jr. I hope it pans out but I have some doubts.

  7. Minnesota Timberwolves - I would of had them 5 if they kept Randle but nope not anymore. They traded Reid for LaMelo and I like that but now they have no PF. Do you play small and only have Gobert as a big? Or f it, do you start Trey Lyles???? They desperately need a PF and even if they get one, I am not sure about the Melo/Ant fit.

  8. Boston Celtics - I had my doubts on the Celtics this season when they missed Tatum for a while but we saw Brown carry them so who says Tatum can't. Let's be honest, the Celtics are still a great team as long as they have Tatum. Paul George will help. I expect White, Gonzalez and Queta to take bigger roles. Walsh should hopefully be good. The Cenac pick is decent too.

  9. Cleveland Cavaliers - This team was the 4 seed last year in the East and I think that will happen again except as a 6 seed. The team is relatively the same but the conference got better. The loss of Wade hopefully won't hurt too much but we shall see.

  10. Toronto Raptors - Wow another Eastern Conference team. Kinda crazy how the tables completely turned. Kawhi and Barnes will do magical things on both ends of the court.

  11. Denver Nuggets - Never doubt Jokic ig

  12. Utah Jazz - This team could potentially be a powerhouse. George, Peterson, Markkanen, Bailey, JJJ, Nurkic. Man that is a crazy tall team with big guards. I love it Utah.

  13. Los Angeles Lakers - Yes Lakers fans, y'all lie hear. I like the Luka and Reaves pairing and I think Luka shines as a definite number 1 option. Adding Grimes is big. I like the Sexton and Kessler additions. Losing Ayton won't be a big deal since you now have Kessler. The only thing I worry about is how a bunch of new guys will work together and how in the world they will beat some of these other teams. Luka will need to drop 40 every night.

  14. Indiana Pacers - I like this Pacers team. They made it to the finals in 2025 and have now added Oubre Jr and Nance Jr. I like those additions a lot. With Haliburton healthy, they could be anywhere from the 4 seed to the 10 seed imo.

  15. Houston Rockets- They did not do much. I like the Thornton pick tho. This Rockets team is good don't get me wrong and with Vanvleet healthy, they might be a top 10 team but as of right now, I don't see it.

  16. Washington Wizards - Dang, this team looks scary on paper but let's be honest. The Wizards suck. AD and Trae both have injury history and once one of them goes down, they will be going from a top 15 team in the NBA down to a bottom 5 team.

  17. Portland Trail Blazers - The Portland Point Guarders. Like what is this? Dame, Ja, Jrue, Scoot??? Don't tell me you are starting 3 of them with Deni and Clingan. Dame and Ja is a horrendous backcourt defensively and with Ja's injury history, the offense will be inconsistent. Deni and Dame will have to do some serious carrying.

  18. Atlanta Hawks - Jalen Johnson is very good and so is NAW but in a stacked conference, it may be difficult.

  19. Phoenix Suns - Booker has proved time and time again that he can make any team look average. That is why the Suns are here.

  20. Dallas Mavericks - I could of had them a bit higher but the lack of stretch 4s/5s might not work well. Flagg should get better and healthy Kyrie can help. I just don't see much besides that.

  21. Orlando Magic - They resigned Vucevic i guess. Not much to say here. They will be mid again.

  22. Golden State Warriors - Same with Curry. Curry can make any team look decent. If they added LeBron the ranking would be a much different story.

  23. Charlotte Hornets - They lost LaMelo and Bridges. Also Green. Coby White is a good starter but compared to other starting PG's in the East, it is not amazing. Miller and Kon will have to take huge roles which could result in anywhere from a 7 seed to a 13 seed. Adding Reid is nice and they also got DFS, O'Neale and Grayson Allen. The shooting should be very good. The playmaking might not.

  24. LA Clippers - Garland and Ingram is all you have I guess. You guys added Rui which is a big win but besides that, not much going on here.

  25. New Orleans Pelicans - I have learned. I am always way too high on the Pels. Not this year guys.

  26. Chicago Bulls - Chicago always looks bad but somehow finds a way. Caleb Wilson is great.

  27. Milwuakee Bucks - Herro and the crew

  28. Brooklyn Nets - Randle and MPJ. Demin hopefully can stay healthy too. I like the Mikel Brown Jr pick as well.

  29. Memphis Grizzlies - Cam Boozer is my pick for ROTY but the Grizzlies kinda stink so I don't see it happening. Edey might end up being the best player here lmao. This Grizzlies team looking like the Purdue Boilermakers with Edey and a bunch of midgets.

  30. Sacramento Kings. Can we just relegate the Kings already? Like seriously, they have not done anything since Oscar Robertson. Maybe they can relocate and become the Seattle Supersonics. That is an idea
