Whether you love or hate Jared McCains off the court antics, you can’t deny he might be the best player from this draftclass.
ANOTHER 30 point game tonight where he hit 6 threes and another game where McCain might be the Sixers only shining light in an otherwise underwhelming start to their season, now 14th in the East with a 3-12 record.
He has great on ball creation to generate his own threes, incredible off-ball movement (often through and around screens) and has very effective drives to the rim that creates wide open shots for teammates.
The Sixers offence seems to utilise McCains off ball movement, allowing for him to fake defenders on close outs on the perimeter or to simply get shots in open spaces, similar to ones you’d see in a practice game.
He is also shooting 42% on 6 3 point shots attempted a game, which I state because historically rookie guards who rely on their shot don’t always start this efficient, especially when given such a big role in the offence, a role which would have came as a surprise before the season started.
So my question is, is this simply an overreaction and am I overhyping a great start to the season from Jared McCain, or are we finally seeing Curry’s influence throughout the 2010s (and now god damn he’s still doing it) finally showing and shaping in rookie guards coming into the NBA?
