He wasn't even in the running a couple weeks ago, then he campagined for it... and he almost instantly became the favorite. Narrative based voting makes zero sense and this would be the narrative winner to end all narrative winners.

I don't expect Rudy Gobert to win. I think he deserves to win easily, but I would be rather shocked if he did win. However, if Rudy isn't gonna win, at least give it to someone that has a strong enough case. I would be perfectly fine with Giannis or Jarrett winning, I can understand the argument for Bam, Rob, or JJJ. I would rather Smart win than Bridges, but guys... come on. The idea that rim protectors impact defense more than perimeter defenders isn't a novel one, it is one of the most basic ideas one can have about the defensive side of the ball. What is with this never ending desire to "get a non big to win, it's been sooooo long"? There is a very obvious reason that bigs always win, because they are more impactful in every sense of the word.
