I’ll keep this one uncharacteristically brief and get right to the point. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (more commonly known as the Mormon Church) and I have been called to serve a two year mission in Winnipeg, Canada, starting October 16th. Maybe some of you guys have picked up on the fact that the Utah based white boy who talks about BYY is a Mormon, congrats to you sleuths. During this mission, I will basically just be talking about my religion full time. Missionaries are not permitted to interact with the outside world as normal people would, so this means I am calling it quits on my time on Fanspo. Maybe I will drop by in 2025, but at this point, I am entering a new phase of my life and this seems like a good time to hang up the keyboard.
The question arises, why am I telling you this, a bunch of sports fans whom I have never met? Firstly, as a thank you. I joined TradeNBA.com early on in my Sophomore year of high school and I am now graduated. There have been huge events in my life, and I have had the desire to stick with this website through it all, and the website stuck with me too. Believe it or not, I didn’t write about basketball before creating my TradeNBA account, I barely even expressed my opinions on the sport. This website has increased my confidence, both online and off, and I want to express my appreciation. You guys have been good to me, and while I have never and probably will never meet any of you, I consider some of you my friends.
My second reason to bring this all up, is a very important request. On my mission, I can both send and receive emails, and just because I’m not allowed to watch basketball, it doesn’t mean that I have to be completely out of the loop. I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t know all of the player development, new rivalries, and Rudy Gobert resurgences that happened while I am abroad. So, if you want to join my email list and do me a huge favor by keeping me in the loop. I will be eternally grateful. This isn’t to try and get you to subscribe to my weekly preachings newsletter, this is to try and give us a mutually beneficial way to stay in touch. At the end of the day, I know that, in 20 years, when I look back at my high school life, Fanspo will be included, and you guys ARE Fanspo - that has to be worth something. It’s been a wild ride, and I hope that some of you will stick with me for just a little while longer.
