Right now the Atlanta Hawks are in the 6th seed of the Eastern Conference and are expected to make the playoffs but with a record of 42 wins and 33 loses they are very close to go down to the 7th seed due to the Philadelphia 76ers having a game in hand with the record 41 wins and 33 loses the Atlanta Hawks might go down a spot making them a play-in team. This year they made an improvement over the 2024-25 season where they finished with a record of 40-42 which isn't a 50% win rate making them a play-in team. This improvement might have been because of the departure of Trae Young and the rise of Jalen Johnson going from 18.9 points per game, 10.0 rebounds per game, 5.0 assists per game over a 36 game span and he didn't play anymore games to around 22.9 points per game, 10.2 rebounds per game, 8.1 assists per game over a 66 game span which show the impressing turn around for him and the team had. However the Atlanta Hawks have 7 games left in the season which are important towards them making the playoffs/ play-in or not. They have the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat for the 7 games and the most probable thing that could happen would be lose against the Boston Celtics, once again Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic and the New York Knicks which would mean that they would finish the season with a record of 45 wins and 37 loses which might make them either the 5th, 6th or 7th seed which would most probably make them a straight playoff team. With this they would most probably either lose in the first or second round which would take us to the draft. Depending on their picks they would have the 7th pick making them pick Darius Acuff Jr who is a point guard which plays for the Arkansas Razorbacks and he averages 23.5 points per game, 3.1 rebounds per game and 6.4 assists per game and he would bring a new point guard for the future after Trae Young and due to his efficient way of scoring and ability of passing might help him on his transition to the NBA just like Trae Young but he's more efficient and less of a ball hog/ main handler. They would also have the 23rd pick and with the need of a center since the departure of the majority of their good centers and with a front court of mainly Jalen Johnson they could have the choice of Aday Mara who is a 7'3 center with amazing block ability but the Atlanta Hawks would be lucky if he fell down that low in the draft but if he does then this would be a steal not only because of his efficient way of scoring on the inside and his versatility on defense, his averages are 11.9 points which would definitely increase with the 4 quarters instead of 2 halves, 6.8 rebounds per game, 2.5 assists per game and a field goal percentage of 66.9% or 67.0%. The last pick they have in this draft by now would be the 57th pick of the draft which they could get a young and versatile player or a player that would be a reserve and a good defender I would pick Ryan Conwell who is a great scorer but not very efficient which could mean that he would come off the bench for his mindset and his ways of playing the game translate to the NBA of today but he's a great shooter and inside scorer which is why he's averaging 18.8 points per game which is good for a shooting guard but he's not a good rebounder or passer which is understandable when he only rebounds 4.8 rebounds per game and he only passes in actually needing plays which explains his 2.7 assists per game. During the off season the Atlanta Hawks should also begin to make trades of some players like CJ McCollum and Gabe Vincent due to their age and contracts not making much of an impact on the team. The one trade thought without any context was with the Toronto Raptors of CJ McCollum and Gabe Vincent with the 2027 1st round pick for RJ Barrett who is a good overall player, he can score in all 3 levels and he can pass and rebound okay for his position and height. This would be good because it would weaken a rival of the same conference which could make the team stronger for the 2026-27 season. During the free agents time they would be able to get much but they just got rid of 42.1 million due to departing CJ McCollum and Gabe Vincent. So some players they could perhaps get in this off season could be someone like Scoot Henderson, Anfernee Simons or Benedict Mathurin they are good shooters and good players to come off the bench if not be starters in some games this could be an improvement towards next season. Have some players in some training camps and improve the training intensity to get high improvements of every player and with that trade in the season for trades for the future in later years.
