Timberwolves: When the deal first went down, I was not as negative on the trade as most. You were essentially salary-dumping Julius Randle to make X big move. Randle is not a winning player, and I assumed that when X big move happens, the Wolves just wanted to take in incoming salary rather than convince another franchise that Julius Randle is a good addition to your organization. Then they go ahead and sign Ayo to 5/$112. Maybe the Wolves are on Fanspo, because they saw a bunch of people saying Ayo is underrated and said let’s give him THE BAG. More moves are coming but I don’t like what they’re doing. Let’s go ahead and sayyyy D+
Bulls: I’ll keep it short. They get Claxton, who fits their SLAP priorities. Good pickup. Descending contract so he’s not even that expensive. Nice little B+ for them. Kenny Beecham is certainly happy with the move.
Nets: This was their last year owning their pick, so I understand wanting to be competitive. Julius Randle is again not a winner, but he does raise your floor. You also pick up another pick in the first round, which is always nice. Just a very okay trade, no one really cares about Brooklyn, so I’ll be done talking about them. Here’s a C for sure, I guess.
Milwaukee: I like what they got for Giannis. The trade is finally, I’ll be shocked if Tyler Herro remains a Buck by the time it is. Herro aside, you pick up Jaquez, Ware (who btw was my favorite prospect in the 24 class), and the 13th pick to this roster already, all probably playing big minutes during the season. I think the package will look a lot better when the offer for Herro comes in as well, and I’m just glad they’re finally rembuilding. B+ obviously it’s Giannis, you wanted more, but all things considered, with how long this saga has been, I think the Bucks get the best they can get.
Miami: I like the move for at least right now, and given Giannis’s age, right now is the right time. Mitchell-Powell-Wiggins-Giannis-Bam is the starting lineup. Objectively speaking, that’s one of the best in the league. Sneaky deep too, with Pelle Larson, Jovic, and now Bobby Portis (plus the undrafted gem they’ll inevitably get). They just lack shooting. This however guts them of almost all their remaining draft capital, so it’s win now or be the next Milkwaukee Bucks. If Bam continues to stretch out his game, this Heat team has legit chances. For maybe 2-3 years. Risk it for the biscuit babyyyyy. Here’s a B.
Anywho, unfortunately, this has all happened while I have just fallen sick (yes, in the summer, I know). I feel absolutely terrible, so I couldn’t get myself to write anymore than this, and this brotha needs his sleep bad. I’ll try and go more in depth tomorrow, but its the draft, so likely I’m just watching that :))) good night y’all
