DALLAS-76ERS TRADE GRADES

Very interesting

76ERS: B-

  • This was a bit random, wasn't expecting Caleb Martin to be the first of the brothers to be traded here but this is how it is. Well it makes sense, it's no secret the 76ers have been bad this year, below expectations. And there's no point for them having a listed salary similar to the competitive teams this season in the 1st apron, trading Caleb Martins contract to do this is great for the 76ers with vital role-players like Yabusele being up for free agency this coming offseason. Now they are more comfortable and can be more versatile with their options this coming offseason.

  • Not only that, but they received two very interesting valuable assets in return. Quentin Grimes has been very good this year in my opinion, 3 and D type of guard with his high level of defense being a ver valuable skill set for Dallas, and hopefully the 76ers can take this value and win some games and try get in a favourable position. They also got their 2nd round pick back. Now when we talk second round picks I usually ignore everything to do with it since we have no idea who is in the class. but since its this year and we now the depth of the class we can talk about this pick to a good level. The 2nd round picks this year are very valuable trust me on that. this is one of the deepest drafts ive seen, there will be a few steals and impactful NBA players in this, more than we've seen in recent time. and since the 76ers are in a weird transition, limbo type place, hitting big on this pick will again give them a few more options on where to go with the franchise. loading up and adding this pick will never hurt

  • so to recap, they got better in my opinion, and they moved in the right direction, so its a B-. I was thinking B, but I do like Caleb Martin somewhat and he has good value.

MAVERICKS: C-

  • not been the greatest week for Nico Harrison in my eyes, I don't really understand this in my eyes. Ima keep it short and sweet, I already talked about the assets they gave up, the same evaluation for those guys. Caleb Martin is really interesting as a player is a very weird but interesting fit, I really don't believe they needed to add at the forward positions, I know they lost kleber and morris, but AD is going to be the 4, you have PJ Washington who looks unhappy but will be backup to him and will get minutes at the 3. I prefer Naji Marshall a lot he is a great signing for them and is an amazing role player, and then I know the Mavericks will be starting Klay and that could be at the 3, I don't understand how he really fits, he doesn't seem to get a large role here and he does a lot of things well, but specifically what are you trying to get out of him for this team. Because I can see where Grimes fits on this roster, we talking about someone who is statistically one of the best perimeter defenders based of Opposing player 3p% and shoots, I POA type of guy with 3 and D ability. Caleb Martin is like your all round backup 3 who will probably get mimil minutes in my eyes. Now because they've made this deal how they've done it. I assume he is going to have a larger role than I expect but by doing this you have to fully believe in Max Christie and I guess Jaden hardy or Spencer Dinwiddie to really fill in the backup guard positions. It's just confusing to me. Is it horrible? No, do I like it? definitely not.

  • and they went into the tax due to this, yeah this doesn't make much sense. really between a D+ and C-, but this isn't too severe so im going C- but its on the border.
