How to properly control linear actuators in DIY projects?

Hey everyone! I’ve been trying to set up a small automated bookshelf using linear actuators, but honestly, I’m running into some trouble. At first, I thought I could just hook it up to a switch and it would work smoothly, but it kept jerking and sometimes stopping halfway. I realized that I probably need a proper control system to manage speed and position. I found this guide that really helped me understand how these systems work: actuator control systems . Has anyone else had this kind of issue, or tried using similar guides?
