Victor Wembanyama is one of the most hyped up prospects of my lifetime. A legit 7 footer who can do things that people his size aren't supposed to be able to do. He seems to have the potential to be the greatest player of all time, with the only things holding him back being his weight and injury potential. This all has me questioning, what is his trade value? Now Wemby won't be traded, but the pick might be. Draft trades happen every year and due to different valuations, picks don't have a set value. This leads to the question, what would it take to get the number one pick? How much do you value the potential of Wemby over a proven product? If the Spurs get the pick, and are offered a package based around Jaylen Brown, do they accept? Brown is a proven top scorer who seems to be able to be the top player on any team. Personally I think that proven talent is more valuable than perceived upside, but we can go further. If the Thunder offer the Spurs Josh Giddey, Jalen Williams and their first for the number one pick, do they say yes? Giddey and Williams are more proven than Wemby but are not yet at the level of a Jaylen Brown. Giddey has the potential to impact the game as much as anyone and Jalen has shown top potential. As a Thunder fan, I would feel extremely conflicted. Going into the year, I wanted a Wemby - Chet frontcourt for the future as much as anyone, however the team took a massive step forward with the prospects we have and shouldn't mortgage that for another player. If anyone else has a potential trade for the number one pick, let me know. I would love to hear what the value of Victor Wembanyama is from people who would have other ideas.
