Welcome to the soccer mock, presented by Surge and BrighterKarma! This mock is pretty simple - what if the NBA used the European soccer format? This will be a 5 year mock, and the winner in the 3rd year will become the champion. Here are the rules for anyone who isn’t familiar with soccer;
There will be 40 teams, with 20 being in the First Division, while 20 will be in the Second Division. To decide what teams will be in each division, a random selection will be made, however all expansion teams will be in the second division.
Teams will protect 7 players, while the rest will go into the expansion pool. You can protect players who will be free agents in real life
You will keep your players for the duration of the mock unless you trade them
You can loan players for 1 year to another team for a sum of money
The mock will last for a week, starting after the expansion draft is done. You’ll get 1 day to make as many moves as possible, and then the next day you’ll find out the result of the season.
Teams will be given a budget on how much they can spend. It will be $100 Million in the First Division, and $50 Million in the Second Division. Instead of making trades, you can offer a team a certain amount of money for a player. If you go over budget, you will have wins taken away. Budget not spent will not go over to the next season, so spend as much as you can.
The bottom 3 teams in the First Division will be relegated to the Second division, while the top 3 teams in the Second Division will be promoted to the First Division.
If you are to win the First Division in the first or second years, you will receive 1 extra win to your team.
There will be no draft, however rookies can be signed in free agency at any time for money.
The mock will start once there is a minimum of 30 teams
