LABARON PHILON
Position/Archetype: High Motor Creator Point
College: Alabama
Pros:
Creation: One of the best handles in the class in my opinion, has the ball on a string, easily gets round taller players on mismatches and finds space to drive, also a good passer of the ball, reads the court really well and finds cutters and open guys under the basket very well. He pulls guys in the paint and passes out, a very safe passer too, doesn't do anything rash and is quite controlled.
Finishing/Floater: Super efficient rim scorer, uses his body really well even if he isn't very big, his go to move is his floater which is very efficient, thats his main offensive weapon, push shots and floaters.
Pick and Roll Handling: Really good getting downhill off a pick and roll due to him being able to pass well, make good decisions with the ball either passing or getting to his more efficient shots, the floater for example off that. being able to operate well off screens is a great base skill for the NBA.
Steals: He uses his length and gets a lot of steals, pokes the ball out defending one on one and anticipates passes really well, and because of his he gets out in transition really well. averaged 1.4 steals per game, very good steal numbers.
Speed Control and Energy: Super had worker on the court, plays with a tonne of energy but what will make you lose him is his control of his speed, he isn't super fast but still speedy but he bounces and stops and starts and it makes it very hard to keep up with him.
Cons:
Athleticism: Not super fast, doesn't jump super high, isn't strong or big so he gets rattled a bit and will need to put size and muscle on but he's young and will probably fill out in the NBA with league help.
Jump Shot: 31% from three isn't terrible, the lower half of his form looks pretty unbalance though, the upper half looks nice, definitely something he could build on and will probably
Lack of Mid-Range Game: Not a lot of volume from the mid range although he impressed with his numbers in high school, you'd hope to see a little more form a guard who saw a good amount of the ball so he ended up being a below average guy from here. not the biggest fan of mid range in the modern game personally but its always useful to have someone who could punish in the mid range.
NBA Pro Comp: Cason Wallace, Jrue holiday
Projection: Really solid Back up Guard, Provides a lot of energy.
