Is there a way to remotely tell if the crops are developing normally or starting to deviate?

I mean, I just want to know what the method is, because obviously there is one, and it’s not like every single plant has its own personal expert writing down its condition in a notebook. From the outside, it looks insanely complicated, and I’d love to at least get a small sense of how it all really works.
