Why the Cavs do it: Their big man depth is atrocious. Clint Capela is a solid back-up big that can sub in for Allen or Mobley. Although Larry Nance Jr. was already signed to fill this role, he lacks the right size and overall talent the Cavs need.
Why the Rockets do it: The lack of shooting is this team's main problem. DFS is their only consistent true shooter. Other players can shoot the ball, but are not actual "shooters" who mainly operate in the corner. Dean Wade is known to be a good shotmaker, while being a decent defender and passer. Capela role on the team as a 3rd center is redundant because the other centers are good and not injury prone, making him an expendable asset. Smith Jr. or DFS can fill in on center minutes the ywould be lacking after this trade.
