This is for round one of KUMINGATHEBEST’s trade challenge.
Why the Sixers do this:
Philadelphia’s young core is more than strong enough to sustain a few years without picks. Maxey, McCain, Grimes, and Edgecombe are crowding the backcourt and others like Ricky Council and Adem Bona are ready to step up in the frontcourt when needed. This deal nets Philly a great power forward, enabling them to have a star-studded lineup while ridding themselves of the Paul George contract.
Why the Jazz do this:
Utah seems willing to cut its losses this offseason on overpaid guys between Collin Sexton and John Collins salary dumps. Markkanen is the next logical guy on that list. This gets a TON of value to Utah, three firsts to be exact, while giving them chances at draft profit (an Ainge specialty) short term and long term alike.
