I'm curious on what the Mavs are gonna do in the offseason. Do they buy again and still try to make a push for a championship, or do they sell and rebuild after failing to succeed? This trade is for if they were to sell and rebuild, and if Luka were to request out.
Dallas Mavericks
The Mavs are failing to succeed this year, currently being 11th after getting guys like Kyrie. If Luka was to request out, they would most likely have to start a rebuild. Trade for their picks back probably and create a young roster. I'd say this is pretty much an Ideal package for them to get. Ingram as the center piece of the package, young pieces like Kira, Trey and Dyson, and then a buttload of picks seems like an ideal package to me. Having BI as the main guy on a team, especially a rebuilding one, also seems like a good idea because it's working for New Orleans right now, except they aren't really rebuilding. Also, getting rid of Bertans' contract is good for them too.
Ideal Starting 5
Dyson, Hardy, Murphy, Ingram, Kleber
Ideal Bench Rotation
Kira, Ntilikina, Green, Bullock, McGee
(regarding of UFAs and such kinda)
New Orleans Pelicans
Luka on the Pels on paper looks really good. Him next to like Herb and CJ, although they could maybe trade CJ for a good SF, looks nice. Also, Luka and Zion seems like a fun duo too. This trade would cost them their entire asset pool almost but they could make some trades and stuff to fix that after. They could also try and find more depth and defense in trades and free agency so it's fine.
Ideal Starting 5
Luka, CJ, Herb, Zion, Valanciunas
Ideal Bench Rotation
Alvarado, Richardson, Marshall, Nance Jr., Hernangomez
(some of those guys are free agents but they don't really have any players for those positions otherwise so I just put them. they could also draft a guy to fill those spots too.)
Feel free to comment your opinions on this deal.
