I HAVE to stress that this is a worst case scenario for the Celtics. But it is important to keep it in mind nonetheless. Other potential suitors in this timeline would be Atlanta, San Antonio, Thunder, Grizzlies, and perhaps the Hornets or Magic.

Despite what people will tell you there would be suitors for a JB trade. He is an all star, all-nba caliber wing/guard in his prime, who also has elite experience when it comes to post season play and winning. Can be the cornerstone for the Jazz franchise.

Celtics do this to sort of give them more cap flexibility. You got Jrue's contract up, Dwhite's contract up soon, and alot of your bench dudes have contracts up too. You're also getting a nice serving of draft capital to use in any potential trades, sign and trades, etc.

Lauri fits into the Celtics system seamlessly. He next to Tingis and Tatum would be lethal when it comes to Mazulla's three point heavy system, and if they were to move on from Mazulla, he fits in with those guys regardless of offensive goals. Sexton can be your go to 6th man, and potentially blossom into your Jrue Holiday replacement.

Again, this is purely an imaginative timeline. Im not saying this will happen, but if disaster strikes again, it will be time to move on from JB.
