Yes this trade is idealistic, but I think Trae could fit the bill of another two years of going for a title for Milwaukee. He's lackluster on defense sure, but I think he plays much better into the distributor mold than Dame does. Why Atlanta agrees to this? I'm not sure but a lot of advanced metrics say that Dame clears Trae as a player so they may believe that they are getting an overall better player. He also provides a veteran presence for a young core.
