Why The Spurs Do It: -The spurs have been making quiet moves to slowly upgrade the roster this offseason and should continue doing so. Ingram would be a big improvement on the wing and would look familiar to Derozan in a spurs jersey. His shot creation would take pressure off Wemby and if he has a healthy and successful season the Spurs have done well with negotiating team friendly contracts, I think they could retain him if they wanted for a reasonable deal.

Why The Pelicans Do It:

• I’m not a fan of the pelicans making this move because I love Ingram in New Orleans, but I think with wings like Herb Jones and Trey Murphy on the roster and a clear need for a 5 I think if the pelicans want to to really build around Zion they have to do what’s best for there star player. Paying Ingram with the uncertainty of his fit when Herb and Trey Murphy are younger, easier rotation pieces and would demand less money just allows the pelicans to be more flexible in the future and not commit to heavily to a core that may never be successful. Collins isn’t Val but he spreads the floor and blocks shots so he’s not a bad option alongside Zion. And Keldon is a streaky shooter but with a lesser role should be more efficient and plays with great energy would be a great 4 man for when Zion hits the bench. I consider this a low sell for Ingram but with him being an expiring option I feel like this is really good value all considered.
