New York Knicks Acquires: Karl Anthony Towns and Kyle Anderson Loses: Immanuel Quickly, Mitchel Robenson, and Evan Forrnier+2FP and 1SP
Explanation: New York is trying to win and they have the assets to make a trade like this without losing too much. Karl Anthony Towns will be the perfect P&R partner for Jalen Brunson and the fit with him and Julis Randle makes sense. Kyle Anderson provides solid bench depth to an already decent bench. This team will be scary in the East and if they want to trade Julis Randle, than they still have many more FRP to make a future deal.
Minnesota Timberwolves Acquires: Pascal Siakam and Chris Boucher Loses: Karl Anthony Towns and Kyle Anderson
Explanation: The Rudy Gobert trade two offseasons ago was a failure and the fit between Gobert and Towns didn't work well. Pascal Siakam comes in and fills the role of towns and is the perfect 2nd option to Anthony Edwards. Back in 2019, Toronto won the championship because of two players, Kawhi Leonard and Pascal Siakam and pairing Siakam with a potential superstar in Edwards could result in a potential finals run. Adding Boucher replaces the role of Anderson but the defence will be improved. Siakam is good on defence and offence so if you want to have Gobert be the main rim protector, Siakam can focus on the offence. The fit with Edwards, Siakam, and Gobert will be scary for the West.
Toronto Raptors Acquires: Immanuel Quickly, Mitchel Robenson, Evan Forrnier, 2FP and 1SP Loses: Pascal Siakam and Chris Boucher
Explanation: Toronto is in NBA purgatory right now, they have the assets to make a big trade but they don't want to. Pascal Siakam has been struggling and he's on an expiring contract. Toronto wouldn't consider a trade with Scottie Barnes and if they don't want to lose Siakam for nothing, this is the trade. Getting 2 FRP and two good young players in Quickly and Robinson would be beneficial for the future and for the future of Scottie Barnes. Quickly can develop into a solid PG and the P&R with Scottie will elite. If Toronto decides to trade Jakob Potel, Mitchel Robinson is the younger and maybe a better version of Potel. The only downside for this deal is taking on the Fournier contract which isn't too bad of a downside considering you are getting better value for an expiring contract.
Overall, I think this three-team trade makes sense for all three of the teams. Minnesota is getting a better fit and arguably a better player for KAT. New York gets their big man without giving up too much. And Toronto gets a good start to a rebuild.
