Trade 1: Steven Adams for Tim Hardaway Jr
The Mavericks desperately need a 5 to hold down the fort until Derek Lively is ready to start. Adams is the perfect guy for that. Be brings size, rebounding, and high end screening to the table, and would help balance out the starting 5. The Mavs can move on from THJ as they have an excess of score first guards who can step up into his absence, such as Seth Curry and Jaden Hardy.
On the other hand, the Grizzlies can use all the shooting around Ja and Smart that they can get, as they are both subpar 3pt shooters. They can slide JJJ into the 5 spot to replace Adams, and both Clarke and Tillman have shown to be starting level players in the past in the front court. With Bane, THJ, and Kennard the Grizzlies will have plenty of spacing to surround their main playmakers.
Trade 2: Larry Nance Jr for Richaun Holmes and two second round picks from the Spurs trade involving Grant Williams
The second leg here is moving recently acquired Holmes, as the center rotation would be a bit too bloated, for a big wing in Larry Nance Jr. The Pels could use more depth at the 5, and they pick up some draft assets as well (the two seconds acquired in the Grant Williams trade). They have plenty of young wingsa who need all the minutes they can get, and this opens those minutes up to guys like Trey Murphy, Dyson Daniels, Herb Jones, Naji Marshall, EJ Liddell, etc. Nance can help continue to build the new defensive identity Dallas is trying to implement, and can help develop the younger wings like O-Max.
The Mavs then waive and stretch Javale McGee, and with their last roster spots, the Mavs can move Curry into the MLE instead of the BAE to preserve it next year, and spend that MLE money on Ayo Dosunmu, a younger defensive guard who could have some upside, and use a minimum to bring in Derrick Jones Jr, who fits into that Matisse Thybulle role they were looking to add.
