Magic POV: They got more shot creation and playmaking next to Paolo. Garland definitely had his defensive weaknesses but they have many defenders that can cover up his flaws. Franz isn’t a great playmaker and can’t set up Paolo in many situations. Garland would work very well in situations like those.

Cavs POV: They got beat mostly because of Garlands inefficiencies and lack of size against the Pacers. Garland was exposed on defense and the double small guard lineup didn’t look like it worked. This trade gives them more size and versatility. Mitch can play his natural point guard role and let Franz run the 2. This big lineup would definitely work well against the better east teams next year.
