Why the Blazers do it?
They pick up a nice young player and a draft pick with some upside a few years down the line while also shedding some salary off next year’s payroll and taking a flyer on Wiggins.
Why the Warriors do it?
They pick up a quality starter in Grant and a very solid sixth man in Brogdon, both who would presumably be upgrades over Wiggins and Paul this season and beyond. They also shed a decent amount of salary from this year’s payroll without mortgaging too much of their future too far ahead.
Why the Spurs do it?
They don’t give up much at all here and get themselves a point guard on an expiring contract who would allow them to test out Wembanyama with a playmaking point guard to see how much that really helps his development.
