I could easily see this IF the Hawks commit to not rebuilding. They don't own their picks for the next 3 seasons which means losing only hurts them. Flipping the #1 pick this draft who probably won't be better than a solid role player for a disgruntled fringe All-Star would be an ideal move. IF they can sign BI for 3 years 135-150 million that would be an ideal move. You have BI and Trae for the next 3 years and they can still be traded by the time you get your picks back.
Pelicans would do this because they get some decent value for Brandin Ingram. They get a solid 3 and D wing in Risacher who they can develop off the bench AND a starting caliber center in Clint Capela. It's not an ideal fit, but if they're a believer in Dejounte, Murphy III, and CJ McCullum spacing the floor it could work.
