I saw this framework referenced in another post and thought it was interesting. To be clear, I don't know that I would do this trade if I were either team, though the trade fills obvious needs for both teams.
For the Lakers, they reunite up-and-coming center Lively with Luka. Lively is the perfect archetype to pair with Luka and steps in as an immediate upgrade over Ayton. They also bring back Max Christie, and a first in this deal.
For the Mavs, the experiment with AD playing the bulk of his minutes at the 4 with jumbo lineups needs to stop. AD has and always will be better as a center and that's where the majority of his minutes need to come. Reaves slots in as the perfect temporary replacement for Kyrie and someone who can play alongside him when he returns.
