Why Grizzlies Do This:

Their biggest issue is shooting and spacing. Buddy Hield is the perfect solution for that. He was one of the best 3 point shooters in the league last year and should continue that this year. This might be an overpay because of his contract, but it can get them a title this year. On the other hand, his contract could actually be a good thing. It will give them lots of cap flexibility in free agency which will give them the choice of extending him, resigning him, or letting him walk in FA. This is a risky investment that has the potential to pay off in a big way for the Grizzlies.

Grizzlies Rotation With Trade:

PG Ja Morant

SG Buddy Hield

SF Desmond Bane

PF Jaren Jackson Jr.

C Steven Adams

PG Marcus Smart

SG Luke Kennard

SF John Konchar

PF Santi Aldama

C Xavier Tillman

Why Pacers Do This:

Brandon Clarke should be an exciting player to pair with Tyrese Haliburton while Zaire Williams has a lot of potential. The 2030 first should have very solid value as nobody knows what Ja Morant is going to do between today and tomorrow let alone today and 7 years into the future. Benedict Mathurin is ready to take over as Indiana’s starting shooting guard so it wouldn’t make sense to keep Buddy Hield. This trade would keep Indiana as a borderline playoff team while also allowing them to be a championship team in the future. This trade should also allow them to stockpile assets to prepare for trading for a superstar such as Joel Embiid. The Pacers have a lot of options and this is a good one to pursue.

Chance That MEM Does This: 70 %

Chance That IND Does This: 68%

This is more of a risk for Memphis, and Indiana might be reluctant to trade Hield, but I consider it a win-win.
