After the blockbuster KAT trade, I think the Knicks should look to bolster their bench and find players on affordable long-term contracts. This way, they can lock in the roster for at least a few years while pushing for a title. This trade sees them grab Reath, Vanderbilt, and Bey for Robinson, Achiuwa, Dadiet, and a bit of their remaining draft capital. Although Mitch is probably the most valuable player in this deal when healthy, the issue is his health can't be relied on for a contending team. Reath provides that same imposing figure and defensive awareness while also stretching the floor and contributing greatly on the offensive side. Of course he is not nearly as good of a defender or rebounder as Robinson, but I believe in the player development staff on the Knicks and can easily see Reath fitting in on this squad more than Robinson. It also allows for potential big rotations with both Reath and KAT on the floor which is more exciting than Robinson and KAT. The additions of Vanderbilt and Bey would also give the Knicks much-needed depth and rotation flexibility. Could easily see Vanderbilt or Bey starting in place of Hart to allow the bench to have a true leader. A rotation of Brunson-Bridges-Anunoby-Vanderbilt-KAT with Payne-McBride-Hart-Bey-Reath off the bench plus additional depth in Kolek-Shamet-McCullar Jr-Okeke-Sims is scary scary, and could potentially be held together for 2-4 years. Yes, giving up Dadiet who the Knicks seem high on is tough, but he is unfortunately years away from contributing greatly and the Knicks are in win-now mode. I know it is a gamble on Bey returning to full health this season, but it is one they could afford as their wing depth would be very flexible after this trade.

For the Wizards, it is clear after the Avdija trade that they are looking to rebuild young with the additions of players like Carrington, Sarr, George, and Coulibaly. This trade sees them continue that trend in grabbing Dadiet, while regaining control of their first-round pick, picking up a younger center than Jonas who would bring much-needed rim protection, and finally Achiuwa who could either stay with the team long-term or be flipped for younger assets. The Wizards can afford to wait on Robinson as they have depth at the center position already. Overall, this trade sees them cash in on two older players (relative in the case of Bey) and a young player who they most likely will not bring back and puts them in the right direction.

For the Lakers, they make one final push while they still can with LeBron, and get Grant who has long been discussed in moves to the team, and an experienced center in Jonas who can allow AD to play PF like he wants while also allowing for a stronger bench center if they decide to play smaller. A starting lineup of Russell-Grant-Lebron-AD-Val with Reaves-Christie-Knecht-Wood-Hayes off the bench is a big improvement and provides them with plenty of flexibility to move players around from starting to the bench. Vincent is a negative asset at this point, and Lewis does not project to get minutes anytime soon. Yes, giving up Vanderbilt, Hachimura, and the 2029 pick is a decent amount, but the Lakers need to take risks to have a shot at contention. Otherwise, they would be better off blowing it all up.

Finally, for Portland, they get Hachimura who can either join the core or be flipped for more assets, two young players who may have untapped potential if given the right opportunity to grow, two seconds in 2025 and 2026 and the valuable 2029 Lakers first for Reath and Grant. I know the Portland fans will most likely laugh at this proposal, but I would ask them to instead of just saying no, please explain what they would expect in a Grant package. I think Reath has a value of a young guy and 2 seconds as the consensus showed on one of my trades, but could be wrong. At the end of the day, I am genuinely curious about your feedback and want to reach a consensus on the value of Grant as it is clear he should be moved to allow Portland to retool. If you think Portland could get more, explain why and I would be happy to make changes.

Who wins this trade? Who says no? What would you change? Let me know in the comments below and please keep it respectful!
