Some of the older guys on this team need to go; they need to build around young assets like LaMelo. For just Gordon Hayward and Nick Richards, and involving a variety of other teams, they acquire more young talent in Rui Hachimura (who needed a change of scenery anyway), Matisse Thybulle, and some cap holds to make the salaries work. The Hornets should not keep these guys or Cody Zeller.
The Sixers need a small forward and in this deal they get two; Bertans could be a small forward with his shooting skill and Lamb's secondary/tertiary position is small forward and he is capable of playing this position.
Based on Wizards moves in recent years, (acquiring Westbrook, keeping Beal, making the playoff push this year) the team wants to contend right now. Gordon Hayward is coming off of a good season in Charlotte and all they give up is Rui who has not been playing well and could end up in a Troy Brown-like situation if he stays much longer, and a MASSIVE overpayment in Bertans, along with a worthless cap hold on a bad player who has been overpaid in Ish Smith. They now have a big 3 of Westbrook, Beal, and Hayward that reminds me of the Nets in that the goal looks like it is to simply have a scoring match and play minimal defense but score an overwhelming amount of points. However, in the deal, they manage to keep Bryant and Avdija, which is the extent of their real young core in my opinion.
The Pacers get a brand new player in Danny Green who can be used in a sharpshooter role to space the floor in the event that they choose to keep Sabonis and Turner. Lamb has been inconsistent at best and is a minimal amount to give up for acquiring Danny Green. If they want to figure out how to trade him for someone like Buddy Hield, they can do that as well.
