Heat Receive Damian Lillard, 2026 Less Favorable FRP (MIA/POR), 2028 Less Favorable FRP (MIA/POR)
Clippers Receive James Harden, Tyler Herro
76ers Receive Norman Powell, Marcus Morris Sr, 2028 Top 5 Protected FRP (LAC)
Trail Blazers Receive Duncan Robinson, Nicolas Batum, Robert Covington, Caleb Martin, Mason Plumlee, Nikola Jovic, 2026 More Favorable FRP (MIA/POR), 2027 FRP (MIA), 2028 More Favorable FRP (MIA/POR), 2029 FRP (MIA), 2030 FRP (LAC)
Heat
What they gave up: Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Caleb Martin, Nikola Jovic, 2026 More Favorable FRP (MIA/POR), 2027 FRP (MIA), 2028 More Favorable FRP (MIA/POR), 2029 FRP (MIA)
What they got back: Damian Lillard, 2026 Less Favorable FRP (MIA/POR), 2028 Less Favorable FRP (MIA/POR)
Why they do it: The Heat's championship window is closing. They lost many key role players like Gabe Vincent and Max Strus in free agency. They need to make a splash. Damian Lillard wants to play in Miami and the Heat need Lillard. This is a match made in heaven and they'd 100% be willing to give up some role players and a few FRPs to make it happen.
Starting 5: Damian Lillard-Josh Richardson-Jimmy Butler-Kevin Love-Bam Adebayo
Clippers
What they gave up: Norman Powell, Marcus Morris Sr, Nicolas Batum, Robert Covington, Mason Plumlee, 2028 Top 5 Protected FRP (LAC), 2030 FRP (LAC)
What they got back: James Harden, Tyler Herro
Why they do it: The Clippers are another team with a slim championship window. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are aging and have injury problems. With all that they gave up to get those two, they have to make this move as a last ditch desperation effort to win a chip. It almost certainly will backfire big time and blow up in their face, but they still have to take the risk and take a swing on James Harden and Tyler Herro.
Starting 5: James Harden-Tyler Herro-Kawhi Leonard-Paul George-Ivica Zubac
76ers
What they gave up: James Harden
What they got back: Norman Powell, Marcus Morris Sr, 2028 Top 5 Protected FRP (LAC)
Why they do it: James Harden doesn't want to play for the 76ers and he is 100% the type of guy to hold out if he doesn't get what he wants. He demanded a trade and the 76ers move on from him. They get a a protected picks as well as some good role players to help build around Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
Starting 5: Tyrese Maxey-Normal Powell-Tobias Harris-Marcus Morris-Joel Embiid
Trail Blazers
What they gave up: Receive Damian Lillard, 2026 Less Favorable FRP (MIA/POR), 2028 Less Favorable FRP (MIA/POR)
What they got back: Duncan Robinson, Nicolas Batum, Robert Covington, Caleb Martin, Mason Plumlee, Nikola Jovic, 2026 More Favorable FRP (MIA/POR), 2027 FRP (MIA), 2028 More Favorable FRP (MIA/POR), 2029 FRP (MIA), 2030 FRP (LAC)
Why they do it: First off, at least 2 of those guys would probably have to get waived because the Blazers would be over the roster limit. Anyways, it's obvious that Damian Lillard wants out and the Trail Blazers are going to have to grant his request and start their rebuild around Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe. This trade gives them 3 FRPs and 2 swaps as well as 3 role players (assuming 2 get waived) to help their rebuild.
Starting 5: Scoot Henderson-Anfernee Simons-Shaedon Sharpe-Jerami Grant-Jusuf Nurkic
