Nets:

The Nets take on Beal, who is out for the season. Beal was supposed to be a vital piece to the Clippers and his injury was partially the reason to the slow start that they had. Cam Thomas at this point isn't part of the future plans for this group. At the same time, there is not a lot of teams out there that are interested in a guy like Cam. So they find a pairing with the Clippers. For Thomas, they get Cam Christie in return, who just turned 20. This team is super young with tons of potential. Jordi would like a guy like Christie.

Clippers:

They are trying to win as many games as possible because they do not have a draft pick this year. Acquiring Cam Thomas would add talent to this roster immensely. I assume he'd come off the bench but he would be more useful on the Clippers than on the Nets. The clippers were missing that Normal Powell-like player who can take the load off the two stars. James Harden and Cam Thomas have high praise for each other and even played together. This team could work out better for Cam
