It was foolish to not include Russell, so I subbed him for Brandon Williams. Now the heat have added Shooting, Secondary Ball handling, and size with Thompson, Russell, and Powell. Contract come up after next season so they still have time to compete and preserve cap space for their targeted off-season.
Now Mavs shed an additional 6 Million by off loading Russell and now have a total of 76 Million off the books. There is not other trade on the planet that makes more sense than this for all teams involved.
Chicago can pivot and also unload another unprotected first RD pick. Essentially this deal means dumping 76 Million dollars for 2 Firsts. Mavs should not look to add anymore salary to their cap sheet.
Yes losing AD no matter the circumstance is a loss. However this trade literally solves all the Mavs problems. Loads of Cap Space for next year, and 2 more First RD picks. Miami gets involved to literally beef up their roster for one more contention shot at the cost of Rozier. Yes Rozier off the books makes sense. But Miami is targeting 2027 Summer. So Klay Thompson and Russell for one additional year doesn't hurt that much. Maybe MAVS give HEAT a 2nd RD Pick to sweeten the deal.
This trade literally has to get done. Anything else, I would really not understand.
