PROJECTED KNICKS DEPTH CHART AFTER TRADE
C: Robinson, Hartenstein, Jones
PF: Toppin, Washington, Sims
SF: Hayward, Reddish, Mykhailiuk
SG: Barrett, Grimes, Arcidiacono
PG: Brunson, Rose, McBride
The Knicks check off 3 items on their to do list with this trade. 1) They clear their log jam in the backcourt and open up a rotation spot for Quentin Grimes. 2) They unload Fournier's contract without having to attach an asset to it 3) By trading away Julian Randle a pathway opens up for Obi Toppin to possibly win the starting PF spot. Hayward will take over as the Knicks starting SF to help improve the outside shooting, Washington will battle Toppin for the top spot at PF. 2nd year man Kai Jones provides big man depth.
PROJECTED HORNETS DEPTH CHART AFTER TRADE
C: Plumlee, Richards, Williams
PF: Randle, McDaniels, Thor
SF: Oubre, Martin, Bouknight
SG: Rozier, Fournier, Maledon
PG: Ball, Quickley, Smith
The Hornets were also able to accomplish a few goals with this trade. First off all they found their long term solution at PF with the addition of Julius Randle. With the injury to LaMelo Ball the Hornets needed some back court depth. They landed a very good young PG in Immanuel Quickley along with veteran wing Evan Fournier to upgrade the backup SG spot. Last but certainly not least they were able to find a taker for the oft-injured Haywards big contract.
