Honestly the Lakers are by far the hardest team to make a feasible trade for yet. Outside of the Lakers top 3 (Luka, Reaves, LeBron) who the hell wants anything to do with this team in trade talks? Like Smart, Ayton, Kennard and Rui are good I guess, but do you really think you'll get better value in any potential trades including those players? And Kennard plus Rui's both expiring so the new deal you sign them to has to be something other teams find appealing as well. I've seen people come up with the most insane trades for the Lakers here on this site, I'm talking 'bout the whole shebang from 3-teamers to a whole 5, I bet there's even a 6-team option just waiting for the trade machine update. I, for one, don't think any of those are realistic, and I only try to propose trades that I think the GM's for each of these teams would at least be able to envision (though admittedly I might've been slacking with the Clippers one, but the Mavericks and Pacers ones are good and I will die on that hill).
So with that in mind, Lakers, get ready to welcome another post-Miami scammer, Caleb Martin! You thought you escaped after Gabe Vincent? Oh no, his other one playoffs wonder co-star's here to help you remember! Okay but seriously though, I do think that, at least compared to Vando, Martin is an upgrade for what the Lakers like to do. On the Mavs his role is kind of undetermined and he doesn't really pair well around their forward depth. Do I think he'll magically become a 12 and 7 guy on the Lakers? No but he really doesn't need to, he just needs to give them better production than Vando has on the offensive end. If he does that I swear to you Laker nation will talk about him like he's the second coming of Lamar Odom.
And for the Mavs, well if Caleb ain't working why not try a different direction I guess? I don't know what they would do with Caleb Martin tbh, do they really wanna trade him for a 1 to 1? I think in their minds he's just the next salary dump guy in any future trade talks. I guess this trade's no harm no foul for the Mavs, right? I mean it's not like Vando's gonna nuke anything on that team, he's also probably gonna be their immediate best defender but we already knew that, it's really his offense that's gonna cause a headache. But hey! They're a young team looking toward the future, unlike the Lakers, having a younger Jonathan Isaac problem for the time being isn't so bad.
